I found this photo yesterday on line. It was taken two minutes after midnight on New Years eve in Oslo by Bjorn Christian. Just in case I never get our video of the fireworks up here, I thought that this photo would give you an idea of what the night was like. New Years;

We went to a dinner party at our friend Paul's house. It was the most traditional Norwegian dinner I have ever eaten. Besides the sauteed reindeer, there was a classic "pinnekott" dish. "Pinnekott" is a salted lamb rib that has been dried. You cook it buy steaming it on top of pine sticks, so that the meat never touches the water.





At about 11:40, we all headed for a park to watch the fireworks. The fireworks are set off by regular people and there is no organization to it. Because of this, the atmosphere in the parks is very frenzied and very loud. We toasted the New Year with Champagne as we counted down the seconds to 2008. We took lots of photos, and video, in an attempt to capture the crazy scene that New Years in Norway provides.
